The Clovis point was a type of stone tool made by people in many parts of North America around 13,000 years ago. Clovis points attached to spears were capable of bringing down massive animals like the wooly mammoth.
Clovis spears feature fluted projectile points that were made using a technique called bifacial percussion flaking. This technique involves alternating the chipping off of both sides of a stone with another rock until the desired shape is achieved.
